For more than fifty years, WLCAC has been the support system for people who live in Watts, who may not have the benefit of a safety net that family and friends may provide. When temporary setbacks become life-threatening obstacles, WLCAC has been there to support the community of Watts, and will continue to be a force for good in the future yet to come.

Thank you to the friends of our agency, and our community in Watts!

WLCAC is putting our words into action by serving more than 30,000 people every year who need help to survive and thrive in Los Angeles. We provide ongoing services to heal and transform lives, and host events to meet immediate needs as well.

We could use your help!

For as little as $35 a month, you can sponsor total change in a person's life.

By donating to WLCAC, you help ensure our services continue for years to come. We are actively creating a safe haven for Youth, Families, Adults, Seniors, and the community at large. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the residents of Watts and neighboring communities.

We are currently accepting contributions. As little as $1 per day can make a difference in the lives of those we serve, while $35 per month as a recurring gift will support one client for an entire year.
Please indicate on the memo line which program you are supporting:

We thank you for your support, and we look forward to a prosperous year!

Youth & Families

WLCAC promotes community wellness, as well as individual and community self-sufficiency by providing opportunities for entire families, along with access to essential social services. We offer after-school programs, health services, educational workshops, job training, family management, counseling, and intensive case management.

WLCAC uses a unique approach of developing close, dedicated relationships with clients. Our staff is committed to working with our clients from elementary school through high school, and beyond. By providing a variety of services for families and encouraging overall community wellness, as well as individual and group self-sufficiency, WLCAC’S overall goal is to build stronger families and better opportunities for local youth.

Senior Services

WLCAC operates the largest senior citizens program in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. With two multi-purpose centers, one in Watts and one near downtown Los Angeles, WLCAC provides recreational activities, educational programs, health screenings, field trips, day care, and hot meals to the elderly, as well as related support services in a protective setting.

Thousands of meals are prepared and served daily to the center’s clients and to seniors at several satellite meal sites. In addition, hot meals are delivered each day to elderly or handicapped clients who are unable to leave their homes. **

Employment

WLCAC has established a seamless job training, placement, and post-employment training system for youth, adults, seniors, veterans, and dislocated workers as defined by the federal Workforce Investment Act. The Youth Services System prepares South Central and surrounding community residents for the labor force by providing job readiness, tutoring, GED assistance, post-secondary preparation, paid work experience, on-the-job-training, customized training, leadership development, case management, job advancement, and supportive services.

Homeless Services

At WLCAC we strive to help every resident live with the dignity that comes with having basic human needs met: One of the greatest of these needs is for a home. We are tirelessly working to transform lives by providing people who have no house with hope- including access to shelters, transitional housing, and a path to permanent housing. We also provide them with access to facilities for mental health, as well as access to job training, counseling and other crucial services.

On November 18, 2018, Mayor Eric Garcetti invited WLCAC formerly homeless clients to an event at the Mayor’s official residence- The Getty House.

Restoration Services

WLCAC operates both City and County-funded Handyworker Projects in the community. These programs provide minor home repair services to low and moderate income homeowners in South Central Los Angeles. Funded by the Southern California Gas Company this project installs appropriate energy conservation measures and repairs for low-income housing units including: attic insulation, low flow shower heads installation, door and window weather stripping, caulking, and minor building repairs.
